What does it mean to live in exile? We’ve gotten a taste of it over the past year. The global pandemic has reminded us yet again that this world is not our home. It is a hostile place filled with danger around every corner. Whether we realize it or not, we live under constant threat. Threats to our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Threats to our relative safety and security. Threats to our financial well-being. None of us is immune. All of us are at risk. So where can we go to find hope? The book of 1 Peter was written specifically to a group of people struggling with similar issues. They too found themselves in hostile territory, exiled from their homes. And yet the Apostle Peter says they have been “born again to a living hope” through their faith in Jesus Christ! And this “living hope” gives them the strength to transcend their circumstances as they wait for the inheritance God promised kept imperishable, undefiled, and unfading in heaven just for them! PEPC family, make sure to invite all those you love to join us in 2021 as we look to Christ for hope in the new year!
