Beautiful Mess: A Study in 1st Corinthians
Church. It’s a loaded term. Comes with all sorts of baggage in our culture today. For some, the word elicits feelings of joy and peace because they’ve experienced a deep sense of connection to community. For others, the word elicits pain and anger because of the trauma they experienced at the hands of so-called Christians. Still others are apathetic because their experience with the church was empty ritualism with no real heart or meaning behind it. No matter where you fall on this spectrum, the Bible is clear…the local church serves a CRITICAL role in God’s plan to reach the world. After all, Jesus gave His life for the church. Jesus is building His Kingdom through the church. Jesus says the gates of hell will not stand against the church. At the same time, the church is a mess. It is rife with divisions. It is full of people struggling with all kinds of sin. It is broken and beautiful all at the same time. So how should we think about the church? What should our expectations be when it comes to the church? Most importantly, how can we help PEPC become the church God has called her to be? Make sure to join us for a new series in the book of 1st Corinthians as we explore what it means to be part of the “Beautiful Mess” God calls His church!
We help spiritually hungry people seeking to turn from sin, become like Christ, and share God’s transforming Word with the world.
